What makes a house a home?

Comfort by Jack Moreh

What makes a house a home?

Is it the way you stay warm, when winter brings a storm and you shelter under the covers with sisters and brothers?

Is it the lazy days and over night stays with friends? Watching horror movies and making crazy smoothies and eating popcorn until the morning comes?

Could it be the family do's, and the pile of shoes by the door? Running out of space and sitting every child on the floor.

Homemade meals and handshake deals
"Eat one more carrot and you can leave"

The early mornings, getting up for work while the kids go berzerk over who has the TV.
"Oh please leave me be, 5 more minutes please"

The endless cleaning, and meaning it when you say;
"Put your toys away or there'll be no ice cream today"

The make up after the temporary break up having disagreed about being right or wrong about pointless lyrics in a silly little song.

Pillow fights, late night and flying kites in the garden.

Or is it the way, that no matter how far you stray, London or Rome; that house you call home will always be there.

Every brick, tile and stone, standing alone waiting, as the earth keeps rotating.

Comfort and safety, a mug full of good tea, your favourite book, a page by page look, through memories and subtleties.

What makes a house a home?

Knowing, no matter how far you roam, it'll always be there, you know who you'll see there.
